Much of Wattles’s book is about holding a clear picture of what you want in your mind. But in this chapter he warns against a common mistake: thinking without doing.

“Thinking in a certain way will bring riches to you, but you must not rely on thought alone and ignore your own action. This is the rock on which many thinkers have been shipwrecked: the failure to connect thought with action.By thought you may draw the gold in the mountains toward you, but it will not dig itself up, turn itself into coins and come rolling along the road into your pocket.By thought the thing you want is brought to you; by action you receive it.

Whatever your action is to be, you must act now.You cannot act in the past, so put the past out of your mind. You cannot act in the future, because the future is not here yet.And you cannot know how you will want to act in some future situation until that situation has arrived.

Do not think that you must wait to act until you are in the right business or the right place. And do not spend today worrying about the best way to deal with emergencies that may never come; trust yourself to meet them when they arrive.Do all that you can do in your present business, with the people and things around you, today.”

What this means for your money
