Wallace D. Wattles was an American writer of the ‘New Thought’ movement, which taught that the way we think shapes our lives. His short book The Science of Getting Rich, published in 1910, became a favourite of self-help writers a hundred years later.
“Whatever may be said in praise of poverty, it is not possible to live a really complete or successful life unless one is rich.No one can rise to the greatest possible height in talent or soul unless he has plenty of money. To develop our talents we must have many things to use, and we cannot have these things unless we have money to buy them. The purpose of all life is development, and everything that lives has a right to all the development it is capable of.
There is nothing wrong in wanting to get rich. The desire for riches is really the desire for a richer, fuller and more abundant life, and that desire deserves praise. To be really rich does not mean to be satisfied with a little; no one should be content with a little if he can use and enjoy more.
We live for three things: for the body, for the mind and for the soul.No one of these is better or holier than the others, and none of the three can live fully if the others are cut short.Real life means the complete expression of all that a person can give through body, mind and soul.”

What this means for your money
